About Us

    Our Philosophy at Jägare Ridge:

"To create an opportunity where the rewards and traditions of the game of golf can be experienced in a non-pressured environment within a magnificent natural setting; on an accessible basis. To provide a level and quality of service to the golfing client, both in terms of personal service and course quality; commensurate with their importance."

This project has been in development since late 1997. Intended from the outset was to develop a championship-level gold course, sensitive to the beautiful natural environment of the Whitemud Creek Valley. The full credit for our design is attributable to Mother Nature. We have endeavored at Jägare Ridge (Jagare: Norse deriv. of 'The Hunter') to allow the land and natural setting to dictate the design; preserving the secluded, mature Whitemud Creek Valley while sculpting a championship caliber golf course within this magnificent natural setting. The course is a registered member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, and will be working toward becoming a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.

image3The golf course and environs are located on a total property area consisting of 475 acres. It has been designed such that the six holes that meander along the upper plateau will act to accommodate future residential development opportunities. They will act as natural parkland and treed areas to buffer sounds of the city on the northern side of the property and to create beautiful natural settings for the eventual housing development on both the north and south plateaus.

The integrity of the creek and all original forested areas have been maintained intact, with cart paths that scenically meander throughout various areas so as to enhance your enjoyment of the serenity of this natural environment. Extensive tree and shrub planting (approx. 3,000) has occurred to date and is ongoing, with a target of in excess of 10,000 trees, shrubs, and plants by the year 2004. Further, significant habitat enhancement has occurred through development of various water features with emerging vegetation areas for habitat variety.

image5You will wander along our carts paths through the edges of large tracts of mature forest and habitat preserved for the many natural wildlife and other inhabitants of the valley. You will encounter deer, the occasional moose or elk, and numerous other birds and animals. You will cross the Whitemud Creek on our high-quality natural wood bridges some five times on your journey.

Our four to seven tee boxes will allow you to adapt the challenge of the game to your level of abilities. With the flowing creek, seventy-foot cliffs, significant elevation changes ranging up to eighty feet, combined with mature sixty to seventy-foot spruce trees, cottonwoods, poplars, and mature birch; the full breadth and beauty of the valley will hit you at every twist and turn. We do not have a signature hole at Jägare Ridge. We had too much difficulty deciding one to choose.

You will enjoy the game at its highest level of challenge if you so desire, at a pace that allows you to savor the surroundings, enjoy leisurely conversation, and strategize on the myriad of options available on this championship layout.
